The last two years have seen "progressive"-affiliated groups celebrate and encourage the murder of "Zionists" with alarming frequency. Examples abound: the chants of "Glory to our martyrs" at a Democratic Socialists demonstration in Times Square on October 8, 2023; the statement by "Grassroots Black Lives Matter" on October 9th calling the murder of Israeli civilians legitimate "resistance"; the Columbia University students chanting "Hamas we love you, we support your rockets too."

This represents a broader and disturbing trend. Upending decades of real progress toward viewing people as individuals and valuing all human life, many self-described "progressives" in the West have reverted to viewing people primarily through group identity. They openly encourage hatred and even violence against designated target groups. In recent years, these have included police officers, practicing Catholics, and of course Israelis and Zionists. These are not isolated incidents but part of a systematic pattern of dehumanization and incitement to violence.
